A cosmopolitan three piece from Gothenburg, Sweden – featuring Tobias Winterkorn (keyboards), Elias Araya (drums) and José González (vocals & guitar), the latter of whom you’ll be familiar with from his solo work – Junip have existed since 1999, maybe even 1998. It’s so long, frankly, that none of them are quite sure. “Fields”, however, is the album that they’ve been itching to make ever since. Produced by the band and mixed by Don Alsterberg, who also helped with recording, “Fields” proves that every second of its protracted gestation has been worth the wait.

PVT, the band formerly known as Pivot return with “Church With No Magic” a new vocal-lead direction for the band, and arguably one of the most ambitious experimental rock records to ever come out their native Australia. It’s a truly modern-sounding album that takes their music in directions both challenging and more accessible. It’s music that captures the contemporary struggle for sincerity, a saturation of communication and an excess of access in our world.

Jammer is one of the true pioneers of the grime scene. A builder of bridges and peacemaker rather than a loose cannon, Jammer is one of the few people in London who can count both Dizzee Rascal and Wiley amongst his friends and who has worked with Kano, Tinchy, BasementJaxx, Chipmunk and just about everyone else, underground and overground. On “Jahmanji” there are vocal contributions from Skepta, JME and Frisco (Boy Better Know), Newham Generals and Jammin and Hainsy, plus production assistance has come from Toddla T, Rapid, Mumdance and Redlight.

One of the hardest working touring bands in the world Your Demise’s new album “The Kids We Used To Be…” is an explosion of energy and ideas that sees Your Demise ascending to a higher state. Offering an addictive cocktail of hardcore and metal, punk and pop-punk, pop and rock, “The Kids We Used To Be…” is as hard-hitting as it is uplifting, as contemplative as it is in your face and as accessible as it is downright nasty. The band has recently been touring supporting The Devil Wear Prada, Parkway Drive, Comeback Kid and more.

Beats People Movement in association with Sick Disco! and Dubstep Alliance Aotearoa are proud to bring Samiyam to Auckland.
A master of the shimmering, synthetic and rhythmically stunted, Brainfeeder/Hyperdub affiliate Samiyam can be defined artistically by relationships. Firstly, with music, secondly, with the intensely talented modern beat musicians (Flying Lotus, The Gaslamp Killer, Ras G etc.) he moves within in both the L.A. of the real world and the uniquely spiked L.A. of the internet… as a key member of Flying Lotus’ Brainfeeder movement, the last few years have seen Samiyam perform across America, Europe and Asia. Following recent visits from L.A.’s Dâm Funk and The Gaslamp Killer, Samiyam will make his New Zealand debut.
Local support from:
Julien Dyne (BBE), Scratch 22 (The ARC), Dapht One (BPM*) & guests.
