Global hit makers Paramore, have selected kiwi band the Jury and the Saints to support them on their New Zealand and Australian tour in October.
After supporting Paramore on their last visit to New Zealand earlier in 2010, The Jury and the Saints (JATS) impressed all the right people to be chosen again for the extended tour that will see the guys play in five Australian cities plus Auckland and Wellington.
The Jury and the Saints’ manager Matt Ealand says it’s an exciting invitation for a young band and a huge thrill for the guys.
“It’s been a busy first year for Jesse Smith (from gold record selling Streetwise Scarlet) and Rowan Crowe (from Goodnight Nurse - platinum sales),” he said. “Since getting together as JATS a year ago they’ve played to over 50,000 people, New Zealand youth music channel C4 picked up their first single ‘Brand New’ as the channel's promo song and made a short documentary about the boys and their music, a massive salute to the band's ability with a huge spinoff for their profile.”
The video was the number one video on C4 and a top five single on Myspace.
“That lead to an invitation to support Paramore on their New Zealand tour, and Paramore loved JATS so much they have now been invited to tour with them again this month,” Matt said. “It’s a massive achievement and is a salute to the boy’s ability.”
JATS released their second single ‘Help me Out’ after their successful 21-date tour of New Zealand in June when they played to 30,000 people. The band was also invited to tour Tonga for a week in July and their new video shows some highlights of this exciting adventure. JATS has had support from NZ on Air for two singles and videos, showing that the kiwi music industry is behind the guys.
With all these achievements in such a short time, along with a sold out debut EP, the future is looking bright. The past month saw JATS support Irish poppers General Fiasco on their New Zealand visit, and coming up an album has been recorded and ready for release later in the year, and another national tour and tour of Australia is on the cards.
These boys are working hard and the success is building!
