Local electro-pop duo Computers Want Me Dead will release their self-titled debut E.P on March 21st. The E.P features the gold selling single ‘We Walk In Circles’, plus radio hit ‘In Your Blood’ and the hot new single ‘Letters & Numbers’.
The Auckland based two-piece consisting of Sam Harvey and Damien Daniels have been crafting their own blend of retro-futuristic, layered electro synth-pop since 2009 and first danced into our hearts with their debut single ‘We Walk In Circles’ which stormed the airwaves at alternative and commercial radio.
Computers Want Me Dead is a classic case of boy meets synthesizer, and a love affair of creating music into the deep, dark witching hours of the night in front of a luminous computer monitor. Harvey and Daniels have created the soundtrack to a sparkling and noisy dream where synths, drum machines and electronic sounds weave amongst each other on the verge of some wondrous binary induced chaos.
Inspired by 80s Madonna and Michael Jackson, their success to date has cemented Computers Want Me Dead as an accessible and intriguing favourite, and the band have continued to sparkle by hitting the official NZ singles charts and topping the iTunes and Digirama charts for number of downloads.
Their energetic electro-fuelled live set is a whirling and buzzing tornado of sound, akin to some wonderful love child of Gary Numan and Nine Inch Nails on ecstasy, and Computers Want Me Dead have already wowed audiences at the likes of Rhythm & Vines, Our House, The Big Day Out and as the support act for American heavyweights 30 Seconds To Mars.
Computers Want Me Dead will be touring New Zealand in support of the release of their self-titled EP and plan to travel to Australia, Europe, UK, and Japan in 2011. The band are also currently working on their debut album.
