The idea that musicians are doing it 'tough' is a generally accepted concept. With commercial music having a socially accepted purchase price of "free", and the gravity of the current economic downturn, musicians around the world are attempting new ways to become the 'next big thing'…
However is donning scary makeup, clown costumes, and running through Auckland's Myers Park the answer to such a disturbing and honest conundrum?
July 7 sees the first release from Diesel Phoenix’s highly anticipated third studio album. 'Welcome to the Ride' is a love affair of the band's affinity with alternative rock, and the British pop twist introduced by new guitarist Nick Arnell.
In a slightly unusual turn of events, the band has made a video for this track with no intention of it being a single; you’ll not hear it on radio nor see it on NZ music television. The epic, rocking song 'Welcome to the Ride' was created merely for the fans of Diesel Phoenix, for the people who would want to see 'something different', and for the band themselves to experience the carnival flavour that has been woven into the musical tapestry that is 'Welcome to the Ride'.
Following a highly successful Australian and New Zealand tour throughout April and May 2011, Diesel Phoenix has wasted no time in injecting their new sound back into their New Zealand audience; this clearly is a band that doesn’t give up.
Furthermore, Diesel Phoenix really care about their fans, consistently delivering a positive message through organisations such as Safe as Social Media, Canteen and Netsafe. This is reflected in the lyricism of their music and their daily interaction through social networking sites.
Diesel Phoenix is most definitely an act to watch out for; they are climbing to the forefront of the minds of music lovers and the music industry with a new sound and a new motivation.
The stage is set, so fill your glass and 'Welcome to the Ride'.
