Which might usually call upon a string of faceless multi-syllable descriptors in the name of justifying oneself to the world. But this EP is the opposite of that. I will not fit the form, I will not meet the mold. I will write bluntly and directly in first person – the only kind of person that matters - with disregard for all conventions in the same meaningless pursuit of individuality that our music tries to grasp.

Without this introspective bullshit going on in my head, Milkshakes wouldn't be able to bring you the award-winning day-to-day deflection of meaning and true emotion that we all inherit. Rollins wrote about it in My War, and Morrissey dejected it in 'Panic'. Friedrich Nietzsche comforted millions of troubled teens and arts students with the wisdom of the phrase “If you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you.” This sense of vertigo is not what ‘Milkshakes’ evokes, but what it provokes: through grief, denial, and youthful rage; while Kübler-Ross does a backflip in her grave.

To channel the angst of every teenager ever is less shallow pointlessness and more the tragic beauty of futility. It's the great battle against nature. It's 'I hope I die before I get old'. It's King Lear's descent into madness, or the emotional demise of Brutus and Cassius – suicide, a noble gesture in their time.

Our time, on the other hand, is as hostile as apathy can get. Those to testify are the mere handful who have seen us live - we have only supported local burnouts. Honours include derisive Youtube comments, feigned appreciation and my own self-torture in the name – illusion – of inspiration. I don't know if it's a sign of displacement or merely dismissal, but all of the above are our influences and that's what this EP is.

However you choose to describe us – “A shittier version of the Mint Chicks”, “Heroically inarticulate” – is your choice, but if the sentiment of bared soul and pained honesty still doesn't set your scene, you can listen to the 'Milkshakes' EP and fill in the mindless blanks provided below.

Hailing originally from the eastern suburbs of Auckland, Milkshakes offer a _________ blend of _________, sharing ________ guitars and _________ vocal delivery to bring what really can only be described as New Zealand’s answer to _________.
