New Zealand Musicians Band Together To 'Find A Way'

13 March 2012 - 0 Comments

All My Brothers – ‘Find A Way’ – single release April 16.

All My Brothers is an all-star musical outfit featuring some of New Zealand’s finest musicians.

Including Francis Kora (Kora), Marcus Powell (Blindspott/Blacklist) and Ben Campbell (Zed, Atlas), All My Brothers is a stellar line-up who, with their first release, are throwing their weight behind a worthy cause – tackling binge drinking in young people.

‘Find A Way', featuring Sidney Diamond (formerly Young Sid of Smashproof) and Adeaze, is a soulful and honest track which speaks of the story of young people growing up in Aotearoa.

While New Zealand has many things to be proud of, we are also a nation where binge drinking and alcoholism takes from the lives of young and old every day.

'Find A Way' speaks of the reality of being a teenager in New Zealand. It issues a warning but also shares a message of hope for individuals and their whānau to “find a way to make a change”.

Reflecting its message, ‘Find A Way’ is a cross-cultural anthem which brings together elements of hip hop, reggae, roots and heavy rock. It is a song with a universal sound that speaks of universal issues, sharing a message which says that race, class and gender doesn’t discriminate – binge drinking is an issue that affects all.

“I come from a small town where there are so many talented guys with all the gifts but they reached a certain place in their lives when they hit the piss... and they stopped there,” says Francis Kora.

Rapper Sidney Diamond echoes the sentiment of lost potential: “I see this stuff every single day, young folks getting drunk and fighting... young people who don’t have any role models”.

The single will be released on April 16, with simultaneous service to radio and television. The accompanying video, directed by Bryan Lee Hudkins, was story-boarded and written by young people from West Auckland who have experienced first-hand the destructive power of binge drinking in youth culture.

“These stories portrayed in this clip aren’t made up,” says Producer Brook Turner of Zeal Voice. “They are re-enacted exactly as they were for the guys who worked on the clip.”

All My Brothers are: Francis Kora (Kora), Marcus Powell (Blindspott/Blacklist), Ben Campbell (Zed, Atlas, House Of Mountain), Dan Antunovich (Autozamm), Emily Giles (Forbidden Joe), Chris Grant (Ddub), Moses Robbins (Atlas, House Of Mountain).

The single 'Find a Way' features Sidney Diamond and Adeaze.
