She has topped the chart in 17 countries including New Zealand, Australia, UK, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands and now Kimbra, the 21-year-old girl from Hamilton, has become the first New Zealander since OMC (‘How Bizarre’ in 1997) to have a #1 song on the US Billboard 100 Chart!
The pop songstress’ collaboration with Australian artist Gotye on his single ‘Somebody That I Used to Know’ has already earned the achievement of ‘Best Song’ at the 2011 ARIA awards, has been certified 7x Platinum (490,000+ units sold) in Australia and has now reached the #1 spot on the Billboard chart while also recording one of the highest ever weekly digital sales totals in the United States.
Gotye and Kimbra also performed the single Live on the Jimmy Kimmel show earlier this year and more recently on Saturday Night Live.
