MAISEY RIKA - NEW ZEALAND SONGSTRESS ANNOUNCES TE REO ALBUM “WHITIORA”

Maisey Rika's 3rd studio album "Whitiora", is a full length Te reo (Maori) album with 11 tracks. Whitiora is to represent a positive, new light on life. Since Maisey’s first solo release in 2009, she has developed her craft further as an outstanding singer-songwriter with much success over the past 3 years.
Whitiora includes "Tangaroa Whakamautai", the first single of the album, which takes you on a journey through the ocean and Maori legend. Other tracks include "Ruaimoko" ft Anika Moa, which is a haunting reference to the 2011 Christchurch earthquake, mixed delicately with a string quartet. Maisey worked with a wide range of Maori songwriters to collaborate and create some angelic, original pieces.
Whitiora has a natural organic sound bed. Michael Barker (John Butler Trio) provides a wide variety of creative percussion on the majority of the album, also Joel Haines returns with his high quality guitar work. Together with Maisey's outstanding voice, demeanor and timing, Whitiora is a treat for your ears. Whitiora is now available on iTunes pre-order and CD pre-order from most record stores.

The song pays respect to Tangaroa (god of the sea), with direct references to tides and whales, symbols that represent the precious life force of the ocean.
Co-written by Erueti Korewha and JJ Rika. Maisey uses a string quartet and taonga pūoro engineered and produced by Mahuia Bridgman-Cooper. Singing in Te reo, Maisey really feels at home, delivering her stunning and unique vocal style.
The music video “Tangaroa Whakamautai” is a majestic visual piece, showing off some beautiful locations Aotearoa (New Zealand) has to offer. Some shots are taken on an the active volcanic named Whakaari (White Island).
