‘Trinity’ is the brand spanking new video from Dunedin’s internationally acclaimed band Die! Die! Die! from their latest long player ‘Harmony’.
‘Trinity’ stars the darling of New Zealand’s soaps: the one and only Amy Usherwood (Out of the Blue, Shortland St). The band had wanted to work with Amy for some time, so there was quite a buzz when their people struck a deal with her people (note: Amy actually has ‘people’ Die! Die! Die! not so much). Amy finally agreed to play a starring role in a Die! Die! Die! video, and the rest, as they say, is rock n roll history (that and the fact that Amy and Andrew grew up in the same Dunedin street).
The idea of ‘killing off’ Die! Die! Die! frontman Andrew Wilson in the video was one that excited the rest of the band no end, and it’s a dramatic conclusion! Never one for shying away from a challenge, Andrew played the role straight off the plane from tour, with only a few quick drinks to get in character and, well, you need to check out the video to see how the story unfolds.
Andrew’s motivation for writing the song ‘Trinity’ was inspired by his grandmother, he explains “It is about the early death (at the age of ten) of my uncle and how my grandmother, who was religious, fell out of the church after the death. Forty five years later, when she was dying, my Grandmother went to the church for comfort, only to find the Minister was too busy to see her.”
