Every now and then a song comes along that is so intriguing; it captures the heart of everyone who hears it. Bones the debut single from LA-based kiwi artist Ginny Blackmore, is clearly one of those songs as it breaks into the TOP TEN on the NZ TOP 40 SINGLES CHART this week.
Bones written in a painful moment of her love life, drastically altered Blackmore’s journey, transforming a 27-year old struggling singer and songwriter from Auckland, into one of New Zealand’s most captivating pop newcomers. “The music is as honest as I could make it,” she says. “It's my perspective on life. I really hope people can hear themselves in it somewhere. That’s what I care about.”
Gifted with the ability to write and sing her own songs, Ginny doesn’t always keep her hits for herself – having penned tracks for several top tier artists including Christina Aguilera, Nicole Scherzinger and Adam Lamber.
From New Zealand to London, and now London to Los Angeles, Ginny is finally where she wants to be: in the studio recording her debut album, due for release later in 2013.
For now, Ginny has returned to New Zealand to perform her hit single Bones on X Factor on Monday night. Ginny will also perform songs from her forthcoming debut album at her showcase on Wednesday 17th July.
