BROCKAFLOWER

(Brockaflowersaurus-Rex & The Blueberry Biscuits)

DEBUT ALBUM RELEASE

‘BUILD IT’

Following on from their self-released 3 track live EP Brockaflower (Brockaflowersaurus-rex & The Blueberry Biscuits) release their debut album Build It on Friday 24th January 2014.

With a reputation for energetic and infectious live shows the monster nine piece Neo-Soul, Experimental, Hip-Hop collective have spent the past year recording Build It at The Bluebarn studios in their hometown Wellington.

Featuring eleven tracks, Build It was written collectively by the band whose members include three of New Zealand’s most promising soulful vocalists Louis Baker (RBMA 2013), Estère and Zoe Moon Mahal with the band Ashton Sellars (guitar), Thomas Friggens (drums), Pat Stewart (bass, synth, mpc), Lorenzo Pradel (alto sax/rap), Blaire Clarke (tenor sax, flutes, throat singing) and Gareth Thompson-Darling (trombone/turntables).

The opening track Meyer introduces you to all three vocalists who will implore you to “Get Up” and ask you to make them “feel like jumping” before moving seamlessly in to the second track Simply which embarks you on a journey in to the make believe and yet very real land of the Brockaflowersaurus-rex. It is here that you will probably find the Blueberry Biscuit, ask not what is in the recipe because psychedelia is somewhere you might just want to go and probably will.

Interlude Rhinocerous Boogie invites you in to the studio to hoop and holla with the Brocks, promptly shifting up a gear up in to Yams where alto sax player Lorenzo Pradel and Estère introduce you to their rapping prowess.

With their self-styled chunk funk, expect to be seduced, lifted and moved.  The Brockaflower family invites you to come exploring and stomp through the earthy organic and synthesized textures of what is the life of a Brockaflower.

“Musical inspiration from prehistoric dinosaurs and unique vegetables is something that definitely resounds through out the album”. – Estère.

To celebrate the album release Brockaflower are touring with three headlining shows and appearances at the Festival of Lights, Rippon and Splore.  The tour kicks off in New Plymouth on January 23rd.
