Today, New Zealand producer
and songwriter BAYNK has
released his highly anticipated debut titled
Someone's EP.
You can stream the EP in full everywhere now
HERE alongside
a brand new single,
Want 2.
Calling today's debut
EP a "freshman" effort would be a vast
understatement.
Someone's
EP is a culmination of 2 years worth of knockout singles
and stunning visuals showcasing BAYNK's development into a seasoned songwriter,
a matured producer, and a multi-faceted live artist giving his peers a bonafide
run for their money.
On
Someone's EP, a
collective ode to an anonymous 'someone' who may in fact still remain
undiscovered, BAYNK
describes, "
This
EP is the culmination of my thoughts from the past two years, centered around
my then biggest fear and insecurity. Never finding that one person. Somebody
for me. Someone"
Born Jock Nowell-Usticke, BAYNK's story is one for the books. In
what has proven to be a meteoric rise from sheer obscurity to the brink of
breakout, BAYNK's releases have amassed 23M+ plays on Spotify to date.
Early singles like 'About
Me' and 'Could
You' began turning heads in early 2016 and it's been a
whirlwind ever since with singles 'What
You Need' (featuring fellow NZ-native NÏKA) and 'Poolside' further
establishing BAYNK as a top new artist-to-watch.
Recent single 'Come
Home' (co-produced and featuring vocals by Chicago-based
artist Shallou)
as well as today's new single 'Want
2' further showcase BAYNK's ability to span various styles
while retaining the essence of hope and subtle melancholy that line the
effortlessly smooth tracks.
After a series of major festival plays such as Laneway Festival, Rhythm & Vines and Rhythm & Alps,
as well as a 26-date support run with Matoma, BAYNK will join
Australian producer Hayden
James on his fall
U.S. tour as direct support and has also announced a
performance at Laneway
Festival Jan '18.
To add to his fast-growing list of accolades, earlier this year BAYNK
participated in a recent Nike
collaboration on track 'Find You' celebrating
Nike's 'Air Max
Day' - check it out
here.
With a structural pop sensibility that sets him on a level of his
own, BAYNK's releases have earned him widespread critical praise as well
as support from major tastemaker YouTube outlets such as
Majestic Casual and
Chill Nation and
hitting #1 on
Hype Machine. His sensual textures and layered electronic
arrangements have also led to notable remixes for artists such
as gnash 'I
hate u, I love u' as well as A
R I Z O N A 'I Was Wrong.'
Be on the lookout for big things to come from BAYNK late 2017 and into next
year.
