Spooky Groove - new single from Anna Van Riel

31 October 2018 - 0 Comments

This ukulele playing mother’s cheeky humour, melodic and catchy tunes, fun and imaginative lyrics strike again with the release of a new single this Halloween – Spooky Groove!

Spooky Groove is available from Bandcamp on Halloween all day for FREE!!

It was a freaky creak, a thumpedy bump
A knickedy knock and a chitter chomp
Spooky Noises I heard that night
They gave me a terrible fright!

Anyone who recalls their childhood barefoot midnight mission to the bathroom (or fridge) this song will bring back all of the memories. Co-written with Liv Cochrane, this song titled, Spooky Groove promises inventive imagery, shivering suspense and whole lot of fun for the littlest of listeners.

Available now, Spooky Groove
is the first taste of a tune from award-winning children’s musician Anna van Riel and the first single from her upcoming album Fishing For Stars.

A wholesome collection of delicious melodies,
Anna van Riel’s interactive album boasts fun and imaginative songs that encourage children to interact through making sound (yes even farty ones!) and copying actions - all the while contributing to positive brain development.

Anna is currently crowdfunding to complete the album and more details can be found HERE

The album touches on everything from learning the Days of the week in te reo Maori, story of a young girl calling to her ancestors during Matariki, The Haere Mai song welcoming kindy kids to the mat, to a superhero yelling song for the over energised child! Fishing for Stars even covers lullabies and Christmas.

Co-produced, mixed and mastered by New Zealand electronica musician and producer Danny Fairley (Civilian Sol, Arma del Amor), the album promises a delightful listening experience for both primary aged children and adults alike.

While Fishing For Stars takes a detour from Anna’s much loved grassroots music career, she is no stranger to making music that children love, having written and sung children’s songs for many years, one of which landed her the Best Children Song in the 2010 Australian Dolphin Music Awards, a Tui nomination for Best NZ Children’s Album in 2014 and Best Children’s Song at the 2016 and 2017 Australian Songwriters Awards.

Fishing For Stars is released on November 23rd and is available for pre-purchase via pledge me, along with a collection of other fantastic options that will be delivered just in time for Christmas!
