Proud Scum were wildly famous in Auckland through the second half of 1979 and the start of 1980 and mildly famous in Sydney for the rest of 1980.
This time around, the lads are going to get another "first" under their studded belts, by playing in New Zealand's capital city.
Joining them for this evening of "rabbiting on" will be a couple of Wellington's finest bands:
The Makos bring a healthy dose of Dirty Rock and Roll, featuring Dwayne from Flesh D-Vice.
Recent addition, Wazzo Ghoti, originally formed sometime in 1984 at Wellington Polytech, will be creating powerful noises that resemble songs, some of which are featured on their recent release of collected recordings on CD, Pronounced Fish.
Meanwhile, more "rabbitting on" is afoot, with the current iteration of Proud Scum gathering from the four corners of the globe: Auckland, Melbourne, London, and Woy Woy, to play not only at Auckland’s Punk it Up but also, in a world first, in Wellington.
The boys will be met at Wellington Airport by Prime Minister Ardern, wearing a traditional knitted Beagle jumper and given the keys, perhaps not to the city, but to the venue of Viking legend, Valhalla.
