Auckland-based singer-songwriter Sophie Mashlan has released her debut album Perfect Disaster.
The 10-track album includes the songs I'll Never Know, Not This Time and Let You Down. It was recorded in Lyttelton with the legendary Ben Edwards, who has worked with the likes of Marlon Williams, Aldous Harding, Nadia Reid, Delaney Davidson and Tami Neilson.
Listen to Perfect Disaster on APPLE MUSIC and SPOTIFY.
“This young singer-songwriter is in her final year as a pop music student at the University of Auckland, but while others are getting singles together she leaps out with a fully-fledged, professional and mature album which has elements of dark country woven through the sometimes heroic pop-rock songs and the literate, reflective folk” - Graham Reid, Elsewhere
With a sound that seamlessly blends folk, edgy country and indie-pop, Sophie is a familiar face on the local live circuit who has supported renowned Californian musician Donavon Frankenreiter; Australian singer-songwriter Vance Joy and Berlin-based NZ artist Graham Candy.
