Kahika Releases Debut EP on 20 May

16 May 2019 - 0 Comments

New Zealand artist Kahika is releasing their debut Acoustic-Electronic 6 track EP on Monday the 20th May.

Released digitally, premiering with the single What You Want.

Recorded in a snowed in cottage in Denmark, the closed-in atmosphere lead Kahika to a very intimate soundscape. Mosaic was then wrapped up in Berlin with production assistance from Jason Huss of Auckland’s Roundhead Studios.

The EP variates in styles, served chilled with downtempo electronic, low-fi Hip-Hop and their acoustic homage to the strength of Kiwi community: Skating Through. Mosaic then gains synth driven momentum on later songs that peaks with the rap of broken dreams from Atlanta’s Dillon on Half Truths.

About Kahika
Kahika are three New Zealanders (Geo Seato, Trent Ward, Jonathan Hislop) who grew up jamming together. We take our name from the blossom of the Pohutukawa and define our music haphazardly under the made-up umbrella of Acoustic-Electronic.
