Kiwi favourites Summer Thieves have followed up their catchy-as-hell new single All I Want with an aptly thought-provoking, tongue-in-cheek video, which also serves as a nostalgic nod to their scarfie days.

The feel-good All I Want premiered on The Edge radio and has already done more than 60k streams since release a few weeks ago. The accompanying video, made by Wade and Bingham, sees the lads from New Zealand’s student capital, Dunedin (the city, which also spawned the likes of Six60) upping the ante with their unique and refreshing blend of reggae, hip-hop, rock and funk. And they’re stepping out in true ‘scarfie’ style in the video, which is set in Dunedin’s notorious 186 Victoria Road flat - where the band first met.
“We went back to where it all started. A place where we had many good times and grew as individuals. 186 is tattooed on my big belly so it is close to my heart… literally,” says the band’s lead singer, Jake Barton.
Summer Thieves is made up by Barton (lead vocals and guitar), Johnny Ward (drums and vocals), Adam Spencer (bass), and Izzy Bones (lead guitar and keys). They emerged on the Kiwi music scene in 2017 with their debut album Warped, produced by the award-winning Tiki Taane.
With a fiercely loyal and rapidly growing fanbase, Summer Thieves have earned themselves a reputation as one of the country’s best live acts, selling out their last four nationwide tours and playing alongside heavyweights such as Six60, Katchafire and Sons of Zion, as well as international acts like Sticky Fingers, Hermitude, Macklemore and Peking Duk.
