Older brings a unique sound to the New Zealand music scene, with the release of their debut album, Silence.
With tight retro new-wave/post-punk tracks, this high-energy duo are becoming known for their social commentary, boldly tackling subjects rarely addressed. Their accomplished songwriting and production skills draw on five decades of first-hand influence, from The Damned to Sleeper, and the B52s to Linkin Park.
Jel and Julie Legg, the two halves of Older, have one goal: to be less and less like their Generation X contemporaries as time passes.
With many more tracks recorded and in the pipeline for future releases, Silence is no flash in the pan.
UK-born music producer, Jel Legg is the creative force behind the band covering all instruments, while Kiwi front-person & co-writer Julie Legg provides lyrics and vocals.
Silence has been four years in the making. After decades of quietly learning their craft in the UK and New Zealand they’ve emerged with both barrels firing and determined to fight ageism.
“According to many we're too old for this lark - we should be out playing golf, taking cruises in Florida and bemoaning the youth of today and their loud music.” - Jel.
“Don’t be fooled by our whimsical demeanor, there are hard hitting truths unfurled that may make you stand proud or look hard at the ground in shame.” - Julie.
