Band & Musician News - Mixed Vege Release 'Taking Its Toll' + Video

Mixed Vege Release 'Taking Its Toll' + Video

31 May 2019 - 0 Comments

Taking Its Toll is the follow-up single from Auckland-based Mixed Vege. Trading out the slacker guitar vibes of debut Take Take Take for spliced beats and sampled acoustic guitar, the resulting is bedroom pop at its finest.

The recording is beat-driven, with heavy-handed auto-tuned vocals, juxtaposed by the underlying strumming folk song that sits beneath the surface. It is clear that Fisher's vision for this project is going to be as diverse as his formative band Goodshirt.

"Lyrically the song is about trying to push forward in the modern world when sometimes it feels like your taking one step forward and two steps back, and life just keeps on going ‘on and on and on, and on’ in the routine of life" - Rodney Fisher, Mixed Vege.

The track is accompanied by a self-shot video, featuring a lonely, abstract and steamy interpretation of the track, inspired by the surreal surroundings of Rotorua.
