Melodownz Collaborates With Fans On 16-Bit Game Whilst In Lockdown

15 May 2020 - 0 Comments

NZ rapper and Avondale legend Melodownz has dropped his own 16-bit video game, Melo Mayhem, to coincide with the release of his cruisy and carefree new single Fine.

Driven by his love for the nostalgic pastime, Melodownz explains how the idea was influenced by playing “Spacies” outside the dairy after school when he was younger – “I was getting bored during isolation so thought creating a game would be a good way to engage with our people around the world and create a nostalgic experience."

Game developers Journey go on to say, “it’s a clever piece that’s authentic to Melo. It’s fun for the fans and a new way of artists connecting with their audience.”

The release of Melo Mayhem comes as the music video for Fine jumps to an impressive 250,000 views in just over a month. In April, Melodownz was also nominated for Best Pacific Hip Hop Artist at the 2020 Pacific Music Awards after picking up the honour of Most Promising Artist in 2019.
