Dub / reggae / jazz bands here in Auckland, or does anyone know of someone who is in a like minded band that would be interested in combining to do a gig in Auckland somewhere. Just seeing what interest is out there. Would be cool to get a bunch of bands together....

Hey, just found your post now. We have a reggae/dub/jazz band, we've been playing together a few months and have done a few gigs at the Masonic, we have another one coming up. You have a really good idea there. Happy

We call ourselves the Tokyo Plumbers for now and our next gig is at the Masonic Tavern on the 15th October. Look forward to maybe seeing you there.

Masonic Tavern is in Devonport, you'll find the address if you go to the gig section of the site. Happy

Hi !

I'm a french student, I arrived in auckland northshore last week and i'm here for 4 months.

I love dub/reggae, especially french dub scene (zenzile, ez3kiel, high tone, lab°, etc.) or german ones (deadbeat, rhythm & sound).

I don't have a band, but if you want to have a drink to talk about dub/reggae music, nz scene or if you want to listen to french sound, it would be great !

Otherwise, do you know some cafe/pub with reggae or dub sound in auckland ?

bye

Hey Kiad,

That's awesome, if you're over 18 and free on the 15th, you should come along. I can't guarantee a reggae/dub filled night (not sure who the other bands are) but it would be interesting to hear about the scene from your side of the world.

That's a good question, does anyone know of any good venues?

Bad news everyone, the Tokyo Plumbers gig has been moved back from the 15th October to the 11th November Sad. Sorry bout that

On another note, it's probably for the best because the band has changed it's name from the Tokyo Plumbers to Kolectiv (seemed heaps more appropriate).

Tahuna, I had a listen to the recording that you had on your site 'Laughing at You', very very good. We're working on putting a demo together on Friday. But also, would you be interested in playing a gig with us at Shadows Bar? Email me at diamond16 at gmail dot com and I can tell you more if you're interested.

Hey Tahuna, I'm planning a Rock Factory "Variety" Night at the Studio for all the bands we work with that don't fit into specific genre nights - you guys can play if you like. It will be December the 15th...

"and hear there is some good sh*t that comes out of there..."

you mean bad music ? Oh for sure we don't have an excellent reggae scene, but the dub one.. so creative & varied !

What are nz band I must listen to ? I already listenned to salmonella (outside the dubplates), and I like it.

Hehe, no kiad, "good sh*t" is slang for really good stuf, in this case really good music.

Other good reggae/dub bands include, but are not limited to: Trinity Roots, Fat Freddy's Drop, Kora and the Black Seeds

If I've failed to mention any others, feel free to add to the list Happy

Heh, it's ok. Very Happy

A good chance to meet some like-minded individuals would be Friday the 28th October at the Masonic Tavern. Kolektiv (the Tokyo Plumbers) will be playing with The Tahuna Breaks and The Sushi.
