I wish them luck.
I have never been exactly sure what the term "easy listening" actually means. Sometimes the music can be "easy" on the ear, but the lyrics somewhat challenging.
And vice-versa.
Each to his/her own, and the mood it finds them in, I guess.

subjective indeed!: to the person in charge:
do give Greg a yell:
I checked him out, he checked me (Black Pudding) out,
http://www.amplifier.co.nz/artist/18209/black_pudding.html?full=1
http://www.muzic.net.nz/artists/1334.html
and then came back with 'unsuitable' as they are 'strictly all-about an easy-listening format'. Ney mind, there I was hoping that the King Country was up for a staunch all-kiwi (no-format, all-about-the-music/artist) alt. radio station. ... I wish them all the best!

I wonder, is there enough independently produced "easy listening" content to fill a radio playlist?

I think Kraven makes a good point: easy-listening makes for easy-playlisting. I'm sure there are alot of 'developing' country and folk artists out there needing airtime, but demo/home/diy recordings don't often make for that particular format either; and do people making 'easy-listening' music have the same trouble with these things as those of us who aint so 'easy' (or aint so 'easy' to pigeon-hole). What with the quota nowadays, I'm sure most mainstream radio stations (who want new material, and not just the same-old over and again) are now 'begging' for more easy-listening Kiwi music to help them fill their percentage.
