I don't think it's anything to do with the music you listen to, I think it's more your attitude.

Note the following points:

1) The title of your post: WhY sOmE Of yOu pEoPlE DiSsIn UrBaN mUsIc???

Was it really necessary to type it up like that? All it's saying is that your a try-hard wanna-be that just craves attention.

2) Learn to write English.

Well the way I see it, people are never going to see eye to eye on this sort of thing. Most people who like 'urban music', as you put it, will never like rock music and vice versa. What you don't seem to notice is that there are just as many people that don't like rap as there are people that don't like rock music on these forums.

What would be interesting to see, is how many people are there out there that actually like more than one style of music? How many people like rap and rock? After all, when you have bands like early Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park with raps spoken next to rock music, is not possible to like both?

Personally, I prefer rock music - but I've never gone out of my way to put any other genre of music down. Whether you play an instrument or not, at the end of the day you will put just as much hard work and effort into what you do if you are serious about it, regardless of what music you play or sing to.

Oh, and by the way, some rock songs are also "about the artist's life or hard time lovers, rememberance of a person, or about how they grew up, maybe even how they spend their money"...

If you don't like it why not why don't you post a messge thing or whatever and tell my why?

If you really want reasons, you shall have them...

Ok, I am not a punk or a pussy pop-rocker, but I still think hip hop, r&B, rap and all the subgenres are nothing but a disease to music in general, and should be exterminated. I will give you a few reasons...

I consider myself a musician, I know alot of music theory and I am hugely influenced by classical music, as well as jazz, blues, oldschool hard rock, extreme metal, a littlebit of country music.

Now here is my point, if a great musician like Beethoven or Mozart (or any other musician that knows what he is doing) came across a rap "musician" (I wouldnt call it music, but I'm getting ahead of myself, I'll get to it), he would laugh at him/her, and dismiss him/her as some joker, because "rap" (by rap I mean any subgenres of rap) and "music" have very little in common.

I'm speaking majorities here, but most rap usually consists of about 2-4 bars of a drum beat, copied and pasted over and over with very little to no change, from start to finish. Some Keyboard sound or something that resembles a cellphone ringtone is usually chucked over the top, also repeated with no change untill the end. Half the time its a musical piece that has been stolen from old famous songs, or other peoples music, because rap musicians are not talanted to write their own. Have you ever heard a talanted rap drummer? or at least a talanted rap musician? How many times have you heard a guitar solo in a rap song?

This brings me to my next point... Rap taland lies not in the music, but in the vocals (or the "rapping" itself) and music is just something to fill space in the background. - It's not music. Any real musician could spit out the music to a rap song in no more then 3 minutes...

The vocals themselves are usually out of key with the music, but then again, most rappers dont know what "key" is. The lyrics are usually cheesy and stupid, a typical rap song theme would be "I am so rich, I got women, I'm better then everyone else", "I'm such a bad gangster" etc... Although, I'm sure there are some meaningful rap lyrics aswell here and there.

The badly used English, with misspelled and made up words is what bugs me the most... It's just gay, its like "look at me, I'm such a dumbass try hard"...

Rap videos almost always consist of half-naked women, because if it didn't have that, there would be nothing else to look forward to, and no one would listen to it.

The majority of rap fans are musically uneducated, low selfesteem, pitiful people.

Rap culture - I dont think that spray painting on walls, gangs beating up people is a very good culture, infact it sux... That is why white areas are so much nicer to live in then black areas, notice when you drive through a nice place, there is no spray paint on every fence etc...

I could go on and on, but I'll stop here.

I hope that opens up your eyes a littlebit, although somehow I doubt it...

i think the only reason i grew up disliking urban music is 'cos i was brought up in a family where the only music that existed was rock. As time went on i kinda moved to heavier stuff and just neglected urban fullstop, it doesn't appeal to me....no double kicks, no heavey guitars and no screaming. I don't down urban unless people down the style i listen to Laughing fairs fair i guess

Right on Grim, you hit the nail on the head with your post.

Coming across talent in rap is a rare thing.

I do think Twister (or is it Twista?) is talented, for the speed at which he can rap. Wasn't he in the guinness book of records for it? But then he released a couple of songs with that hideous chipmunk voice shrieking all the way through them, and any respect I had for him sailed right out the window and landed in a fresh pile of dog shit.

Another form of talent you may stumble across in rap is the way some of the 'artists' dance. Take Usher for instance. You've gotta admit, he's a pretty damn good dancer, his movements are extremely fluid.

But then you have people like Snoop Dog and Pharrel doing that weird gangster dance, like in their "Drop it like it's hot" music clip. It looks like they're taking heaps of tiny crooked footsteps, and then they pull up their pant leg at the end to show you their sock or something.

There you have it, Islandangel. More than enough reasons as to why rap sucks the big one dry.

1. no body dissing any kind of music well not that i've herd of
2. I think she thinks rap is like the only kind of music around
3. Since she was brought up with a family that likes rap and stuff she gets really sensitive
4. She can get a little dumb in the head sometimes she doesn't think right
5. She is what you call a WANNA BE GANGSTER!!!
6. She hates rock and stuff how mean (I like all kinds of music as long as it has a good beat or tune)
7.All of her abitions in life are to become an rnb artist i don't know why cause i don't think she can sing i should know i've herd her.
8. Rap is like the only thing that matters to her
9. Everything she talks about has to do with rap i get so mad she won't talk about anything else and now she's joined this gang who knows what it's called i call it the wanna be's
and finally 10. Man she has bad taste in rap music

So there you guys can stop posting on this since i've got everything under control and explained anyone know how to delete posts this is probably the dumbest post i've ever read or seen on this site. Holla back some time Very Happy

Smells like someone has a multiple personally disorder.

Might pay to look up Psychiatry in the Yellow Pages.
