Just who is in Telecom's new ad?

Information taken from the latest Rip It Up magazine - in stores now.

Telecom's latest commercial entitled 'Pass The Parcel' is where a posse of New Zealand artists, headed by Che Fu, collaborate to make a song. But who is in it?

The artists are spread throughout the country and around the world in Melbourne, New York and London. Che begins the journey in his back yard shed in Auckland where he develops a sound track.

Che e-mails his track to Fur Patrol's Julia Deans in Melbourne who keys down a guitar riff then sends it to Jonathan and Heather of Auckland band The Brunettes, who add a glockenspiel track.. and so it goes on.

On the journey the track is also added to by Blindspott drummer Shelton Woolright, PanAm, Twinset, Handsome Geoffrey's Anna Coddington, Fat Freddy's Drop and finally P-Money, before moving back to Che Fu where it all began.

As always, it is great to see New Zealand music getting publicity.

Here is Telecom's response to who is in the ad:

Our latest television commercial shows the new wave of Kiwi musicians working together to create a distinctive piece of New Zealand music.

Hip-hop artist Che Fu lays the foundations of the song before sending it in an e-mail to Fur Patrol's Julia Deans in Melbourne where she adds a guitar riff before sending the musical parcel on to Auckland band The Brunettes, who add a glockenspiel track.. and so it continues.

Adding their own distinctive touch to the music are (in order of appearance) Julia Deans (Fur Patrol), Jonathan & Heather (The Brunettes), Shelton Woolright (Blindspott), PanAm, Twinset, Anna Coddington (Handsome Geoffrey), Nathan Haines, Ami Maelie, Marcus Powell (Blindspott), DJ Furious, Fat Freddy's Drop with DJ Mu & P-Money.

The resulting track is a whole range of musical styles - including reggae, hip-hop, jazz pop and rock.

What's more, it's a glimpse of the exciting opportunities made possible through telecommunications.

heather from the brunettes who plays th xylofone piece in th ad, she is my old biology teacher's (from warkworth) daughter.
personally i dont think alot of the brunette's hippy music...
