Galatos 4th Anniversary disaster
Posted: Sun Aug 17, 2003 7:43 pm
Last night I went to the Galatos 4th Anniversary, really dissappointed about what happend during Goldenhorse's set.

Galatos was completetly full up, One Million Dollars sounded great. I was totally impressed with the sound. Then Goldenhorse came on... the vibe was really good. Everyone was smiling and having fun. When the band came on stage, they were all smiling. It was an amazing atmosphere. Then two or three songs in to their set, an extremely loud buzzing noise cut out the band for about a minute. The band stopped playing and joined the crowd as the Galatos audience covered their ears. The noise faded out, the band finished the song and started another. Once again, half way through the song the same noise exploded from the PA. Honestly, it was the loudest, most horrible sound. Goldenhorse walked off stage... The mood had been killed. Their set list lying on the floor of the stage showed there were several songs still to be played.

I paid $35 to get in which is a lot of money for a show like that and I was really looking foward to Goldenhorse because I hadn't seen them since the bFM Summer Series in February. I really enjoyed One Million Dollars but the disaster during Golden Horse really killed the night.

Someone said it was a "digital cross over", whatever that means. People were talking saying that they had been to another gig recently where the same thing happend and it was done by the same sound company.

It was like a repeat of what happend at the Big Day Out, except at the Big Day Out the audience didn't have to put up with the horrible noise that made us all deaf.

Way to kill a night.

On a positive note, the guy who mixed the sound for One Million Dollars kicks ass.... Also saw him doing Mary Staple at the Kings Arms two weeks a go which he also did a really good job of. Aparently his name is Sandy? Or Sammy?

Thats a bloody shame!Golden Horse are outstanding! They should fire the person or persons responsible for disfunctional equipment and inform us as to who they are so that we dont use them for any future gigs.Bad publicity.Consumers nightmare!Did you get your money back or at least 1/2 of it?And did Golden Horse get paid regardless of wether they finished their set or not?

They played a few show a few weeks later. I was busy that night so couldn't go to it. No idea who it was.
