A preliminary note

Unfortunately the current situation in Lebanon and its portrayal in the mainstream media overshadows much of the pettily-positive news that is to follow. When a dramatically powerful mechanism like the media holds sway over general public opinion (often obscuring the actual details and specifics of the situation at hand), I think it’s more important than ever to try and communicate with those around you with regard to political injustices.
The Israeli invasion of Lebanon is not a “just war”; it’s not “appropriate retaliation”; and it’s not acceptable. This is happening at literally this moment, and there is very little we can do to change this. It’s a human rights violation that is occurring, and the least we can do is to attempt to shed some light to the ones we know regarding the situation, and to contrast the infuriatingly unjust slant on the situation given by the media – showing the invasion and its disregard for civilians and non-combatants as some sort of morally justified crusade.
This is a brief note, so please don’t take everything given as being even remotely attentive to detail. Please sign the following petition if you have any interest or sympathy for the situation –

The Wrongmen “Den of Vipers” cdep
Straight from the desolate hardcore wasteland of Auckland City, Action Man Records brings you The Wrongmen. Capturing all of the desperate energy that thrives in a working week and the currently subversive political climate comes a band that is going to tear down hardcore conventions and give New Zealand a much-needed breath of fresh air. Featuring ex-members of The Warpath, The Redshift, and the legendary Evil Priest; this band needs little introduction. Fusing the raw energy and anger of Black Flag with the frantic inspiration of bands like Converge and Cursed along with touches of the epic Earth and Old Man Gloom; The Wrongmen is a departure for its members from the sound of past efforts. This is hostile, this is intense, and most of all this is punk rock; something that’s been long missing in hardcore.

Reviews of Damaged “s/t” cd and The Warpath “Nowhere to Run” cd

Damaged “s/t” cd

“Damaged have connections to Promise of Bloodshed, Guest Stabs Host, and Evil Priest and this is a decent indication of what you’re in store for on this release – it’s big meaty slabs of hardcore. Wonderful rants against apathy – in their peers and in the world at large – moralistic brainwashing and celebrity issues. Plus a basic but pleasing enough cover of the Dead Kennedys “Forward to Death”. Damaged don’t push the boundaries of hardcore in any radical new direction but they do it with plenty of guts and obvious belief in their statements.”
Real Groove Magazine

The Warpath “Nowhere to Run” cd

“Okay so when you think of New Zealand you think of Jake the Muss, "cook the man some ******' eggs!" and tribal face tattoos. Wrong. Now you can add the mecca of 90's style hardcore bands to that list. So my buddies in STRONGHOLD toured with AGAINST to NZ and came back, shoved this CD in my hands and told me "dude you gotta hear this." I didn't know what to expect so I shoved this baby in and was ******* stoked to hear 12 (plus a hidden) tracks of heavy, pissed as **** hardcore. Visions of boom jeans, grim reality and jersies suddenly poured into my brain and I was siked. This record is fucking awesome. Total world hating lyrics combined with tough riffs and catchy mosh parts are what you can expect from this record and seriously it’s not to be ****** with. NZ hardcore. Back on the map!”
Brokenglassonline.com

“Unrelenting, Brutal, Honest, Hardcore! These 4 words describe a band from Hamilton, New Zealand! Which has a Hardcore scene bursting at the seams with brilliant bands; The Warpath being one. From the Start of the album to the end this band does not let go of the listener with their full force aural assault! Personal social commentary is the mainstay of this album. From the overall complacency of those that simply accept what is there & do nothing to change situations they have control over, To the endless struggle to make ends meet, The Horrors of domestic Violence & and overall Hatred for Apathetic attitudes is the driving force behind this cd with the vocalist spitting venom in every direction! Loathing & Seething with anger as the music takes you on a one way trip through reality & not that shit you see on TV!
True, Honest, Real Hardcore for people that have to struggle. No trends, No Fashion, Just Brutal Honesty! Much of this album reminds me a lot of Hoods but this album will also appeal to fans of Hatebreed, Terror & Donnybrook! …Soon you will be chanting... "We're All ****** From The Playground Up...There's no Escaping”
