Underoath (metal fans only) Posted: Mon Oct 6, 2003 9:35 pm I have just recently discovered this great band, I got about 20 or so different songs on my computer from about 3 albums, here's my review: This band is like a perfect mixture between Extol, Killswitch Engage and Borknagar. The guitar riffs are very good, ranging from very interesting melodic riffs and arrangements to being very very heavy, every song I've heard, has so much different stuff in it, Its like taking about 7 or 8 different songs and combining them into one (Im not kidding!!!), making it sound great, the average song length is about 6 to 7 minutes, the longest song I have goes for about 11 minutes something. There isnt alot of soloing (a couple simple solos), but the way their songs are made, not much can be improved, still awesome!. The bass? what can I say, sounds great! I loved the sound of the drumkit, the snare drum has a better sound then usual, also the kickdrums sound very good and the symbols sound very good too (very 'ringy', I dont know how to explain it). The drumming is great, having some very difficult beats, but not overdoing it like some bands do, the drummer picks the best beat for each riff, you could say that the drums and the drumming is perfect. The band has a keyboard player, but it is an 'extra', the songs are guitar driven, but keyboard makes the song sound alot better from the background, what I've noticed is that the keyboard volume is a little lower then the rest of the band, but still loud enough to be heard. The vocals are mostly screamed, (the guys voice sounds like a mix of Extol's and Zao's vocalists) but there are some bits that are sung. Over all, their songs are very, very professionally made, Every instrument sounds good. I would give this band 5 stars out of 5, I was very, very impressed. What do you guys think of this band? |
