From the press release today:

The Big Day Out is officially sold out today, according to promoters CRS Music Management.

“Our outlets have reported incredible demand for tickets this year right from the outset,” said Campbell Smith. “2007’s line-up is as strong as we’ve ever had with a great blend of established acts and exciting new artists.”

There might be good news for those who have left it late to buy tickets, however, as a final release of Big Day Out tickets will be made available next Monday.

“The early demand for tickets is unprecedented,” explained Smith, “and our last print run of tickets leaves England, where they print concert tickets and banknotes, today.”

The final release of 2,000 tickets will be made through the following outlets at 9am on Monday 15 January and limited to 2 tickets per person.

DON’T WEAR ANYTHING THAT MIGHT HURT PEOPLE

To the tune of the TLC classic, No Scrubs, the Big Day Out says “ we don’t want no studs, studs is a thing that’ll get no love from us, hanging outside the Big Day Out in your best friends ride, is where it’ll have to stay”.

It is as simple as that. We’re sorry but these items will be removed from anyone’s possession at the gate. Our definition of potential dangerous weapons is fair, but at our discretion. It really is quite simple though, don’t wear studded belts, bands or chains and you’ll be OK.

And think carefully about whether the slogan on your t-shirt might hurt someone’s feelings too. If it says “go cry, emo kid”, that really is quite mean.

THE BIG DAY OUT RECOMMENDS YOU CATCH PUBLIC TRANSPORT

It beats parking miles away.

LILY ALLEN JOINS SOUNDS SIGNING TENT LINE-UP

After just six months, Lily Allen’s music career has already had the kind of trajectory that Richard Branson must hope that his space rockets will one day have. Her champagne-fuelled rise to poptastic fame has been supersonic. And now she must know she’s made it cos she’s about to hit the giddy heights of appearing at the Sounds Signing Tent at the Auckland Big Day Out.

Getting up close and personal with Lily, fans might have the chance to hear one or two of her legendary quips… like “Pop should be popular, but exciting and interesting, like T.Rex and the Clash. Steps and S Club 7 shouldn’t have been called pop – they should have been called shit.” Or just get their Sounds Signing Card autographed.

Lining up alongside Lily Allen at the Sounds Signing Tent will be the following already-announced artists:

12midday - 1pm My Chemical Romance
1.10pm - 1.30pm Lily Allen
1.35pm - 1.55pm Blindspott
2.15pm - 2.45pm The Rabble
3.00pm - 3.30pm Trivium
3.45pm - 4.15pm Peaches & Herms
4.30pm - 5.00pm Goodnight Nurse
5.10pm - 5.40pm The Killers
6.00pm - 6.15pm Kasabian

Yeah when I last saw Tool they were VERY anal about confiscating anything that might hurt people in the pit.

Fair enough, it means they care... it just meant waiting an extra hour and a half for some dolt behind a counter to find your stuff Rolling Eyes

But yeah, the pit can get pretty messy. The Limp Bizkit pit was insane - I don't even like them but I'd thought I'd get in the pit - guys twice my size getting sucked under and trampled, not cool. Lost my shirt and had a piercing ripped. OUCH.

Oh, and re: transport - there's lots of dodgy Indian taxi drivers up there that will turn off their meter and charge f**k all for a lift from Real Grovvy to the BDO. Should I have been worried that the last Taxi driver I was in a car with stank or rum? Laughing
