ernie ball super slinky strings...anyone tried these? They're .042 - .009 top to bottom. Beefy slinkys are a lil too fat for me now lol

I don't like slinkys. Ever tried Dean Markley or D'Addario? You'll get way better tone out of them. I use 9-56 Dean Markley (7 string).

They don't sell 9-56, only 9-52 or 10-56, so I'm forced to buy a 6 string 9-42 pack and a single 56. That way I get thicker low strings for heavier rhythm tone and thinner high strings for easier bends etc.

except thicker strings on the high notes mean you can bend them heaps without snappage.

Lately I've been trying out GHS Boomers...

I don't have locking nuts and tune down to B-Standard, and these strings have a fat bottom end but light high strings (you can bend bejeesus out of them). Not that I need to bend, but they've stayed in tune perfectly on my gat for 10 gigs in 2½ weeks (time to re-string!)

wouldnt a mixture of thick and thin strings make the neck go all warped?

thats the best thing about them. They can take a thrashing which is what a lot of palm muting is.
