There are some NZ musicians that worked very hard during 2006 and achieved a lot during that time. We here at muzic.net.nz feel that these musicians deserve all the recognition and support that they can get and sometimes the best support of all is the support that your fans can give you - so, show your support for your favourite musicians by answering these two questions...

- What NZ artists and bands were the best for you during 2006 and why?

- What NZ artists and bands would you like to see more of in 2007?

I'm sure we won't be the only ones that will be interested in your replies

I haven't seen/heard much from Katchafire lately - something from them would be very welcome in my CD collection in the '07

I would have to say Sinate...because they have worked so hard and produced a new killer album Violent Ambitions.

8 Foot Sativa have had a rough year...but still kept their reputation.
I would like to see more of them in 2007 as I Know they have a lot to offer.

Absolutely. They certainly know how to tour hard too. Definately men on a mission.



Gary's riffs are amazing - at the calibre they're at now - definately a credit to the nation.

Yes totally agree.Gary is an amazing guitarist,I put him up on my top musicians list as he has done soooo much work to structure and keep the band together.

Agent was my personal favourite, they put a lot of hard work into their gigs and their album and the result was awesome!

samuel flynn scott took his solo performances to new heights in welly. while connan and the mocasins have been successful in london.

they are the shit. Their debut recording will be the highwater mark of 2007


Recording ; Ishtar

6 track EP is a pearler, or a tease. Bring on the album

There or Thereabouts ;

Dimmer, Paul McLaney, Trillion, Black River Drive. Be it new start, conslidation , or the first steps I think these performers offered up some goods.

Fingers Crossed for 2007 ;

A new Odessa recording would be nice.

CHUGANAUT are the most entertaining band I've seen. They are so passionate about their music and have worked really hard this year touring and promoting their Wolf EP and upcoming double album. They are truly dedicated to what they love doing the most in life and always have time to talk to us fans. I wish them well for their future.

I think extra credit also needs to be given to Lani from Elemeno P - she's awesome. Not only is she in two bands (Elemeno P and Foamy Ed) but she also managed to tour with Elemeno P this year while heavily pregnant!
