hmm would have to think on that for a while... alot of the time tremolo is used as a kind of background, textural kind of thing and used often on a less extreme setting (so it kind of warbles) by a lot of surf and space rock bands and stuff...
'Returning Home' by Sammy Hagar comes to mind as as example where it is pretty full on.
'Crossing over' by Van Halen (a track that was cut from the 'balance' album) also...
'Beyond this life' By Dream Theater from memory possibly a tremolo late in the song from memory?
In Def Leppard's "Work it out' there is a tremolo effect by using a noise gate on guitar somehow plugged into a drum machine I believe?
Judas Priest use one in "The Sentinel' and 'Turbo Lover', run a synth through one on 'Private Property' and 'Hot for love'
Bon Jovi use a tremolo for a litle bit just past the lead break on 'Keep the Faith'
Roy Z uses one along with possibly a phaser on Bruce Dickinson's "Chemical Wedding'
An awesome example is Def Leppard's "Demolition man'
From memory a subtle, surfy tremolo on the clean guitar on Jon Bon Jovi's 'Midnigt in Chelsea'
We used one in a song called 'Satellite' that we don't really play anymore....
I'll have a think on it see what else comes to mind.... to my mind the square wave tremolo thing was very 80s, there'd be heaps of examples of it.

what are those pedals called that have two little dots on them, and one senses how far your foot is off the buton and like reverbs it sort of, and the other one senses how left and right you are, so you just run your foot over it and it makes crazy noises.

sounds to me a little like a theremin or some variation of it?
The Theremin was an early oscillator, originally from 1920s Russia... it worked by sending out a beam, when you put your hand into its field it'd raise or lower pitch based on where your hand was- it also had a second control that allowed you to vibrato the note.....
Used in loads of early horror movies, in the beach boys 'good vibrations' Zeppelin's whole lotta love.... various noise bands I'm really not up on the play with too..

did you know some sound engineering experts have designed a sound route laser beam, so like there will be light beams and if u step into them you will hear the music playing and if you step out of it you won't hear it. You get my drift?

thats pretty cool- its amazing to think how far music technology has come since the days of the Edison scroll, even since the 80s I reckon.

Its funny I can vaguely remember Dire Straits Brothers in Arms coming out- it was the first commercially released CD, and my folks not long after picking up a crappy little cd player ghetto blaster for almost $1000.00

it was a big thing at the time Very Happy

One thing comes to mind that I'd personally feel a little ripped off with though, to be honest- in terms of beams and digital media replacing the old fashioned radio etc... I find it quite a trippy thing to think radio signals move at the speed of light- the radio waves travel at times all the way out into space and on it goes, receiveable in the vasy emptiness of space... somewhere 80 light years away the music of the 20s from earth could be listened in to by another life form... I find that possibility really trippy Mr Green

I think a lot of people wanting theremins build their own, have thought about having a shot at it myself- I don't think in terms of parts they are too complicated ... Off the top of my head I can't think of anyone making commercial ones at the moment though its the kind of thing a lot of boutique pedal makers add to their collections - maybe someone like John Trueman or Paul Crowther over here might be able put one together?

from memeory Leo Theremin, the guy who invented the theremin, built the first one in 1924 in Russia... the communists made him a national hero for it and commissioned orchestras to play operas and the like with em but by the 30s he'd pissed a lot of the communist party off and 'disappeared' most people thought he'd been sent to the gulag but apparently he went into hiding and reappeared as a very old man in the 1960s... for this reason he never set up a company building them in big numbers himself.
