to listen to a song normally ever again i think. Ever since i started audio engineering whenever a song comes on the radio or tv i can't just sit back and relax whilst listening to it. My ears and mind are like "oh yup they would've done that like this and this like that, oh yup double tracking here there, EQ here, compression" it sucks lol

Nah I hear ya bro, it's the same when you're a musician, you spot things other people don't notice. I play drums, guitar, bass, and sing, so I pick EVERYTHING apart hahahaha.

And I'm the same with graphic design (my day job)... walking down a street looking at signs, naming fonts etc. GEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK.

yea dude, know what ya mean ESPECIALLY when recording a band, i'll be in the live room and their guitarist will be in the live room you can easily spot when he's out of time or even if a strings flat

yeah thats like heaps of study. I've been studying architecture at uni and I cannot look at buildings the same now, I'm all critical and shit.

its actually cool, though, because you can listen to stuff and enjoy how the panning of the guitar track works, or the percussion overdubs, or you can just sing along with the melody.It opens more doors than it closes.

that avril song was on the radio not long ago and i was paying attention to it, that song's got a lot of rad recording techniques in it...ENDLESS amounts of over dubs, effects, EQs, panning, delays and even spotted a few double trackings
