Demo disks/getting gigs Posted: Tue Dec 16, 2003 6:28 pm I've just got a couple of questions for everyone seeing as Z Amigos are relative new-comers to the whole band thing. How the hey do you get gigs for your band? We never play anywhere! We are depriving people of the best band in the world! (Hehe) Also, what is a good number of songs to put on a demo disk? We were thinking four? |

RE: Demo disks/getting gigs Posted: Mon Dec 22, 2003 3:04 am Four is indeed the perfect number of songs for a demo CD. Also when it comes to airplay, you should visit the link below and read the article I wrote about getting your music on the radio! The artist resource pages the link is for are absolutley FREE...so use the info and get your CD on the air. Airplay and a website are also a great ways to get gigs! RE: Demo disks/getting gigs Posted: Mon Dec 22, 2003 5:51 am Try phoning venues and ask them how you would go about getting a gig there. They'll hook you up. If you're in Auckland, places like the Kings Arms will book you in on a Wednesday night first. If you bring people, they'll put you on a Thursday night next time. If you pack it out on the Thursday night, then you'll get a Friday or Saturday night the next time. Then there's places like the Masonic who would put you on a Friday night (5 bands for 5 bucks) upstairs or if you can pack it out, Saturday night down stairs. Intergalactic records also put on shows at the Poe. Once you start playing these sorts of venues, you keep in touch with other bands and they'll also help ya get gigs. If they like you, when they need another band to play their show they'll get you guys also. It really doesn't matter how good you are... It's all to do with how many people you get to your shows. |

RE: Demo disks/getting gigs Posted: Sat Jan 10, 2004 2:23 pm I went to uni with a guy that use to be in Katchafire, and they worked damn hard, they played a lot of gigs for 3 years before they actually got a record deal. When they did local gigs they got ripped off a lot. But a lot of hard work pays off, |
