Is there a decent rock scene in NZ?

Just wanted to see what everyones opinion was on if there was a decent rock scene in Wellington or even NZ? Even when a decent NZ rock band comes to Wellington the turn out is only moderate and really i am left thinking...what the f%*#k!!!!!

yeah ya! some one else from welly! This day has been a long time coming.

Bigger bands like elemeno p and good charlotte seem to be quite well known, but thats all the teenage thing.

connan and the mocasins and gingerbrown (welly bands in all) are sweet.

how good is welly at producing the goods?

I love the NZ rock scene, but its not what you call hard out rock, more pop rock- Atlas, 48 may etc.
I don't know about Wellington bands, Im a Auckland person

there's a couple of really good rock(ish) bands in wellington at the moment. This City Sunrise are awesome, and pretty heavy. Mechano are really good too. Fighting the Shakes are incredible also ;)
