Not sure who Jason Bonham plays with, I know he had a band called "Bonham", but other than that I think he was just the best they could do at the time LOL.

Yup, Evan Seinfeld is married to Tera Patrick and films stick flicks now.

sound in a large open area is always gonna sound like shit, cos well for one it's in a open space so it doesn't have much to reflect off and due to them having the speakers in shitty positions, they can't do much panning or else it'll sound more shittier, so they have to make do with a cluttered sound. Also 40 000 people in the front of the stage is gonna reduce the sound that's being heard by people at the back of the stadium, they could cut that last problem down a bit by placing speakers half way through the crowd and delaying. Blah i'm half drunk

in my garage (the old one that i use for me and m8s to be drinking, chilling, drugging, havn (sic) times Cool ) i hav numerous posters and flags in there, but with one rule, the artist must be awesome to listen to under the influence of drugs or alcohol, such as, pink floyd, tool, iron butterfly, deep purple, etc. and i hav stickers of the such all ova the tv in there, patches on the cusions and mattreses, then we usually lay all the matresses and shit out, load a bong, lax out and watch pulse by the floyd, all adds up to (sic) times! Cool

yeah I hear ya... there's always restrictions and limitations of festivals. Not having your own sound-guy who is familiar with your stuff must be hard for bands. It must have sucked for QOTSA when the sound kept cutting out on them.

The Caketin in Welly was great for David Bowie, but I'd imagine the shape of the venue would have improved the sound, compared to a more open space.

Just about every kiddy-metaller I come across says "(sic)" when they mean "SICK"... (sic) is a literary term when quoting somebody else. NOTHING to do with being metal or evil or, uh, "sick".

Animals is my favourite Floyd album, just perfection from start to finish. Not really a fan of post-Waters Floyd (High Hopes was a magic track though).

Deep Purple... "In Rock", "Made in Japan" and "Machine Head" are must-have's for Ian Gillan era, and "Burn" for David Coverdale era.

They were on fire in ChCh.... Gillan's voice is poked though... well, he is 60+, screaming like that is impossible when you're an old man. I do think that the band gave it 110% in Christchurch though, probably because the crowd was so receptive. They feed off it.

Early 70's Purple = a million times better than any of the young 70's tinged ripoffs floating around at the moment *cough Wolfmother cough*

You're allowed to.

They're still a second-rate seventies nostaliga act. If I wanna hear stuff that sounds like Deep Purple, Uriah Heep and Black Sabbath, I'll listen to Deep Purple, Uriah Heep and Black Sabbath.

the drummer for Uriah Heep lives in NZ.
he runs conference/training in workplace thing.

Odessa fared pretty poorly down here...the gig at Jetset with One Million Dollars was a complete stiff. Not playing mind, just attendance. Christchurch is pretty notorious though for gig turn-outs...total randomness. I have not heard the new stuff though, but this is because I am useless. I do have a list of music to go and get and yes they are on it.

I heard a cut possibly called (appropriate enough) "I can't Remember" ....my kids were laughing themselves silly... I ask whats the story...the video is all about pooing/defecation. dear oh dear.

Yeah ChCh crowds are touch & go... however in general I've found the most enjoyable gigs and biggest turnouts I've had are in ChCh. Every non-ChCh/non-NZ band I've toured/played with has said ChCh is the best for energy and good turnouts.
