dear diary.... Posted: Fri Aug 3, 2007 11:05 pm why hello all, i'm bored so i thought i'd write to everyone and yea jus blab about shit. I had my last day of work yesterday(woot) so now i'm back in taupo chilling with the whanua for a week and a bit before i move to aussie land. I'm currently relaxing out in the middle of nowhere on my grandfathers piece of wiked farm(not really a farm cos there's no animals but it's jus a big piece of land that's well farm like so lets call it a farm) and you know what i found rad? i was outside having a smoke and i forgot what a sky full of stars looked like, cos in aucks you can't see many due to the city lights, it's true...you don't know what you miss till it's gone. The fresh air, no traffic, no noise jus peace and quiet, truely amazing. |

RE: dear diary.... Posted: Tue Aug 7, 2007 4:34 pm both ay bro, it's sad cos when i said when i've been through a pad of paper....i've only got 1 and a half songs out of it haha the rest was scrawling. I don't have a guitar with me here so i have to make do with powertab when i grew up here and was in my old punk band, songs would come to me like in a tick but now, i struggle to write one good song i'm happy with. I'll write something and be like "f**k yea sounds rad" then a few hours later i'll go back to it and think it's utter sh!t, tsk tsk |

RE: dear diary.... Posted: Wed Aug 8, 2007 7:43 am It's always good to have something to put your ideas down on, a pad, a computer, dictaphone, whatever. Inspiration comes at the strangest of times. |

RE: dear diary.... Posted: Wed Aug 8, 2007 1:07 pm I made up A cool rif with my guitar and harmonic this morning. It made me happy. But it is simple. I find I always think of things, not just musical things, in the time i spend to reflect on my day before I fall asleep. You should all try it, it's awesome! |

He would sit in a chair when he was really tired, with a spoon in his hand by his side, and a metal bowl beneath it. JUST when he nodded off, the spoon would clunk in the bowl and he'd snap to, full of inspiration. That "inbetween" state where your subconcious really gets cranking is an awesome place for inspiration. I'm sure he could have tried meditation too, but Im sure that would be too conventional for a nutcase like Dali! |
