yup the eye recognizes the general shape

I use that text as an example to sales reps at work, to illustrate why TYPING AND WRITING IN CAPS IS A TYPOGRAPHICAL NO-NO because you have to slow down to read each letter, because there is no shape for the eye to recognize, only rectangles.

it's weird how even after you notice it is jumbled you can still read it perfectly.

Another interesting point to note: when I'm reading, I find I sometimes take in a word the WRONG way. Take the word "from" - since the brain only needs the "f" and the "m", I might take the word in at "form".

I'll get to the end of a paragraph and go "Hang on, that made NO SENSE". Then re-read the paragraph only to find I didn't actually READ the words, just skimmed over them.
