Having observed this contest (and others) for the last few years maybe it has gained a reputation that only Indie - Alternative, dare I say "the new Christchurch Sound" type bands have a chance and that for Rock/Metal/Hardcore acts it's a waste of time.

Allot of band contests seem to be judged on wether or not the judges like the genre of an act, not on how well the act performs their genre. A case of personalities before principals. This being fact or not doesn't matter - Fact is contests get reputations - but hey all this is just one opinion - Thanks
