Cool things to do in NZ over Xmas

I'm flying to Nz in December, I'm looking for really cool things to do on New Years Eve.

im a bit lost with all the websites and other such sites if anyone could point in me the right direction that would be ace.

music wise im into Rock and metal but open to any cool suggestions.

This is my second trip to New Zealand and all I can say is that KIWI's F**KING ROCK!!!
