RE: The Death of High Fidelity Posted: Mon Mar 10, 2008 11:02 am The same compression technique is used in TV advertising, basically making everything loud and annoying. Hence, I mute the TV or change the channel whenever ads are on. |

But contact any TV channel, they will swear black & blue that they do not deliberatly turn the volume up, which in reality is actually correct, just a very sneaky way of going about it. I really think they need to stop messing with it and leave it be. It ain't broke, so don't fix it. Albums sounded fine before this over-compression madness, stick to concentrating on good songs instead of trying to make big bucks of hit singles. |

RE: The Death of High Fidelity Posted: Tue Mar 11, 2008 9:22 am They're designed for the technological age in which they have been made. Low quality, small file sizes for crappy headphones. If you can fit as much into a small space they'll do it. |

RE: The Death of High Fidelity Posted: Tue Mar 11, 2008 10:14 am Yup, everybody wants everything faster and smaller. I hate this compressed rock stuff I hear on the radio... all the heavy stuff doesn't sound heavy anymore, just a polarised mess of sound. The songs don't "breathe".... subtle nuances of quiet parts are completely butchered. |
