NZ Metal Bands Of the 1980s/1990s

Hi all. Looking for contacts or info for the following bands:
Hammerack, Strikemaster, Stormbringer, Tokyo, Push Push, Brainslide etc.
Looking to get possible recordings of these bands for a radio show I am putting together for a community radio station.

Obviously Paul Martin at the Axe Attack is a good port of call, being a member of Knightshade back in the day.

Yes, I've dropped him a line but Knightshade isn't the issue. I have stuff from them & have contacts for them,. Its the local boys I'm trying to track down.

Hmmm, the only people I personally know of are ex members of Tempest. And I used to have some contact with Kevin Emmett back in the day when he did sound for my old band.

Tempest is not an issue either mate. I know Paul Schurgers, I've got Tempest CDs. Thats all cool. Yeah I knwo what band Kevin gigs in but not sure he'd have the rocrding I'm looking for. Its called Hard Rock Fever, believe it was recorded by Hammerack before they came to Christchurch form Nelson.

Tell em more about Demon & Nadir if you please? I happen to be heading up that way for a week on Sunday. Would be cool to get some of their stuff too.
Did they record at all? Is there anyone around still that was int he bands?

Wow, Daemon & Nadir.

Last time I saw them was at the Jetset, both bands came down if I recall correct, my old band was supporting. I remember Daemon had a HUUUUUGE drumkit. I was drummer back then, and it was like Christmas for me playing on a kit like that. Seven Tonuges also supported.

Nadir were kinda Alice in Chains ish??? That was about ten years ago now, my mind is a bit fuzzy. Anyways, I remember really liking them. Sadly about 10 people showed up for that one.

I'm 90% sure Nadir DID record, for some reason I have an image in my head of their logo on a CD cover.

farout, someone remembers nadir! they were the first metal band i ever saw wen i was just a baby bogan hippy in nelson.

they got a profile on here in fact: http://www.muzic.net.nz/artists/819.html

they had some pretty hard out 90s metal, then moved to australia and tried to do a shihad consequently, their new stuff was more alternative and boring.

They had one "rust" album and an EP "With fury" I have the EP somewhere at my folks place in nelson.

both Daemon and Nadir did record.....Daemon once and Nadir twice...

Daemon - Daemon
Nadir - Rust
Nadir - With Fury

not sure if Wayne still has Daemon going in some form but i went from Daemon to Nadir (in a round about kinda way) then dropped off the face of the planet for about 8years or so, no drums, nothing , just getting back into things now.

fyi Nadir is no longer however 3 of us are looking at jamming together and doing another album for fun....with the number of songs it could be a double album haha we are all in melbourne now

btw didn't realise my kit was that HUGE, maybe the rack and extra bits made it look bigger than it was haha i have a bigger kit now, too many toys to play with these days!

it was either gonna be as Daemon or as Beltane but doing black metal regardless, good on him.

look out for Nadir releasing something next year...might freak a few folk right out.

The first time I met him, my old band WART was supporting Nadir and Daemon. He walked up do me and goes "You guys look like you sound like Korn" in a condescending manner. I wrote him off then and there... well, as if the bullet belt and makeup didn't already put me off him! But years later, when I was in Tainted, we played with them and he seemed like an okay dude.

I *think* Seven Tongues/Tempest were also on the bill, but I can't quite remember. I'm still in touch with ol Jason.



Oooooooh, keep us posted mate. I'm definately interested.

Hey there, couldnt help but notice all this chat about Nadir and Daemon...anyway, most of the guys (Nadir anyway - are all over here in Melb - not a band anymore, but they did get together earlier this year and played som e of their old stuff - It went off and was awesome!

I happen to be married to the best drummer from Daemon and Nadir and I just noticed he (koretake) has already beat me to telling you guys about what they are up to....anyway keep an ear out as hopefully you will hear more from some of the boys soon!!
