RE: Metallica touring? Posted: Sun Sep 21, 2008 11:35 am I've found a ripped version of the Guitar Hero mix and it's HEAPS better. The snare drum doesn't rupture your speakers anymore. |

RE: Metallica touring? Posted: Mon Sep 22, 2008 12:46 pm The Loudness War. It's killing modern music. I don't know if Metallica wanted it to be loud and in your face, because there's other ways to go about it rather than just pulling every peak and trough of the wave-form to it's limits. It's gotta stop. Hopefully the backlash is strong enough for the industry to finally listen. But hey, what the hell does it matter to the label or Metallica? There's cash in their pockets and that's all that matters. |

RE: Metallica touring? Posted: Fri Nov 14, 2008 6:32 pm Has anyone discussed this before? Metallica are the enemies of downloading - and I can certainly sympathise with that. But it seems that someone must have opened certain allowances, with their knowledge or without them. The "Death Magnetic" album uses the same unique font style that the swedish Deathstars have used for five years. The Deathstars album "Termination Bliss", of 2007, had a hit called "Cyanide". As a Metallica fan, I would not like to rest my case, but it should be justice for all, so I will just include the comments from Whiplasher and Nightmare, from the Deathstars: What can I say, it’s just as big of a coincidence and chance as if you get a hermaphrodite-child. What can you do..? You just need to smile at the little monster. It’s interesting to see how a band that made a name for themselves hating Napster and downloading practically downloads ideas from a younger and sexier band, but think positively - maybe Metallica does something that we can steal later. (Deathstars new album is called ”Master of Muppets” and will be free to download from January 30:th) This message was edited by St. Julian on Fri Nov 14, 2008 6:39 pm. |

RE: Metallica touring? Posted: Sat Nov 15, 2008 12:49 pm yeah i read about that whole saga on a different site. death magnetic seems to have many elements that have been used by other bands. example: arch enemy have two tracks by the names of "my apocalypse" and "the end of the line" and megadeth have a song entitled "this was my life" which is very sounds like "that was just your life". i personally think that metallica are just having bad luck with that kind of stuff and are not doing their homework. its very dificult to come up with totally original names for things these days. and when you listen to the songs on death magnetics the titles just make sence and im sure they write the songs before putting titles to them. just my opinion though, i could be wrong. |

RE: Metallica touring? Posted: Sun Nov 16, 2008 6:24 pm Well said, Baphomet. That is a fair comment. Maybe Lars thinks he's the only one looking (and listening) across the water when he goes back home. I still love Death Magnetic, but I am also looking forward to hear all of Night Electric Night, the new CD of the Deathstars. |

It's not hte same font at by any stretch of the imagination. A good portion of my job is matching fonts. This is not a match. My old band had a song called Cyanide back in 1996. I wrote a riff that Anthrax wrote a year later (not for f**king note too!). Coincidences happen. This message was edited by K.I.N.G on Mon Nov 17, 2008 10:22 am. |

RE: Metallica touring? Posted: Mon Nov 17, 2008 11:11 am point taken, K.I.N.G. Coincidences do happen and the "D" is the key to it. The case here is TWO coincidences happening in parallel. It is still possible though, that the whole matter is above any suspicion, but the possibility is reduced, as the odds of the above happening at the same time. |

RE: Metallica touring? Posted: Mon Nov 17, 2008 11:59 am i just cant emagine the boys from metallica goin out of their way to steal someone elses ideas. i dont think that they would stand to gain anything from it. besides it is completly assenine to think that the tallica boys design their own logos for thing. if the design is stolen then it would be who ever designed it for thems fault. another reason i dnt thnk its stolen is because the whole theme of the album is death MAGNETIC and that 'd' is symbolising a magnet. i dnt see anyone complaing that the coffin idea is stolen...... |

RE: Metallica touring? Posted: Mon Nov 17, 2008 12:40 pm Eh, the band themselves probably have NO idea. In a normal scenario, a hired designer would probably present the band with a bunch of options and mockups. I highly doubt somebody would go "Oh hey, that letter 'D' looks a bit like that pop metal band from Europe". And "Cyanide", being a poison, pops up all over the place in metal songs. If Deathstars think they've been ripped off by Metallica they need to pull their heads out of their own crotches. Self-flattery like that is every bit as lame as their stupid make-up and stage names. It's so easy for that sort of coincidence to happen. When I was in Tainted we recorded the first album "The Awakening" with a track called "War Within" on it. Hypocrisy have an album called "The Arrival" with a track called "War Within" on it. Didn't find out til afterwards. We caught the "Scars" single early... when I wrote it it was "Scars of Tomorrow", which turned out to be the name of a band. This message was edited by K.I.N.G on Mon Nov 17, 2008 12:40 pm. |

RE: Metallica touring? Posted: Mon Nov 17, 2008 1:01 pm C'mon guys, the comment about Lars was sarcastic. I would not think they are chosing their fonts or vetoing names because someone has written a song with the same name in Sweden. And of course, there have been coincidences all over the bloody place in terms of names. Cyanide is certainly an appealing theme. The Metallica boys' innocence does not make less of the Deathstars opportunity to get some coverage (the image is withdrawn - I made my point!). It doesn't make their music bad too. Get over the make-up, the stage names or the genre and try to listen to a sample of their sound. Cyanide, for example. They do sound a lot better than they look (like soooooooo many bands...) RE: Metallica touring? Posted: Mon Nov 17, 2008 1:21 pm I might give them a chance. But I find it hard NOT to judge this book by its cover. If they turn out to be faggy mall-goth metalcore or flaccid over-produced Melo-death (melodic death metal) I'll stick by my words. |

RE: Metallica touring? Posted: Mon Nov 17, 2008 3:51 pm I would probably hesitate to listen to the band after seeing this too. I'm not sure if I can pick-up or put together your genre combinations that you suggest they could be there, but I am curious about how you like or dislike the sound. Cheers |
