Hey guys.
Last night on The Axe Attack, Paul Martin announced 11 bands who are the finalists for the Iron Maiden support slots in Auckland and Christchurch.
My band, 'Sonic Altar' are proud to be in the 11 finalists!
So from 12pm today (Monday 19th) you can vote for who you want to open over at www.therock.net.nz
Of course I will shamelessly urge you to vote for us!!

Yeah chuggas wldnt suit opening.A gd band n cool pple but i voted for Tainted also.hav not heard much of the other bands.

My bad... I just assumed there was only one winner... So there where two support spots available?

Couldn't listen to the Axe Attack last night, so had a quick look on MySpace to see which band was gloating about winning.

EDIT: OK - I have it all worked out now... Chuganaut = Auckland, Tainted = Christchurch.

Oh tru bit of a bummer then.I didnt notice but think i voted after the deadline but still went thru.The old chugga bassist munro will be kickin himself too id imagine!Hey KING any metal gigs on the fri and sat before maiden?

Not sure Demon, I'll have a look around and let you know. I'd imagine most metal bands would be steering well-clear of booking a gig the same weekend as Maiden.

even if they did change the rules around, prolly cos their website wasnt even working when it started, I like the idea of being able to choose the opening band.

I think Sonic Altar are the best 80's style NZ Metal band I've ever seen . Them sone talented mofos. They would have been perfect for an Iron maiden opener. Commercial radio Station competitions are always dissapointing that way.

The Rock is basically now just Classic Hits but with more Led Zep.

I woke up to Coldplay on The Rock the other day. I have decided to 100% boybott the station now.

has anyone mentioned that lauren harris is also opening for them on both nights? i wonder how the audience will react to her
