Find a band name Posted: Tue Mar 17, 2009 10:19 pm Hi about 1 or 2 years ago I went into a Super cheap auto store in Wairau Park and they were playing a song in the store which had a young female singer. It was kindof close to rap where the singer talks rather than sings but it wasn't really rap. It was similar to Cobra style or Konichiwa Bitches by the singer Robyn but sounded cooler and not weird I'm pretty sure that the store was playing a cd from that artist because the next song would be from the same artist. Also I went back a few days later and it was the same artist again Just last week I went to the store to try and find out the song or band. The lady at the counter told me they get their music from Australia and they did play the same songs for a few months at a time but she didn't know the song I was talking about. Also I talked to another guy there. He said they got CDs sent to them but he couldn't help me either so I think it could have just been a CD from one of the staff. I know its not much to go on but I thought I'd try my luck. Anyone know which band it was |

RE: Find a band name Posted: Wed Mar 18, 2009 12:32 pm "Like Robyn but not weird" Hahahaha Best you can do when you hear a song you like, is listen for a memorable line, then look it up on google and usually you'll find the title pretty quick... that is unless the song consists of "oohh naa naa, sugar baby you got it goin awwwhn". |

RE: Find a band name Posted: Wed Mar 18, 2009 3:02 pm Yeah I've really been racking my brain to try and remember some lyrics but I cant remember any. Another band that kinda reminds me of the song I heard was Uffie. But the song I heard was much better than Uffie. It was more a constant flow. Maybe you could suggest some band names and I'll check them out. I'm sure if I heard it again I would recognise it |

RE: Find a band name Posted: Wed Mar 18, 2009 3:11 pm I doubt I could shed any light on the situation, it's not my style. Robyn is about the only pop chick I can handle, simply because she's got a nice voice that's recognisable, and she pokes fun at all the other prissy image-obsessed pop chicks. |

RE: Find a band name Posted: Mon Mar 30, 2009 11:40 pm Hi honist ta hu I found two bands called Peaches on the internet. One band has two very young Swedish girls that mainly sing Swedish songs. I did find one of their English songs and it was definitely a different style than what I am looking for. The other Peaches band is a lady singer from Canada. Her songs are quite obscene and wouldn’t be played in Super Cheap Auto. I also checked out her CD from 1995 when she went by the name Merrill Nisker but that’s not it either. She does have some songs where she just talks a bit. But she adds singing as well The singer I am looking for kind of just talks rather than sings for the whole song Thanks for trying though |

RE: Find a band name Posted: Wed Apr 1, 2009 8:56 pm Santogold is an interesting one. I listened to her songs and can confirm it's not the one. Santogold’s voice has an echo effect that makes her sound like she is kind of shouting more than talking. I'm looking for a singer that just talks. I think her age would be close to the singer I'm looking for though Thanks for the suggestion keep em coming |
