Freaky Meat is possibly the only funk dub jazz beat poetry group in New Zealand. They feature an experimental fusion of grooves, jazz and African beats woven together with sublime spoken word, their flavour is as original as it is unique. Poet Shane Hollands weaves spoken wordscapes over a live bed of drums, didgerido, guitar, bass and sax that create musical visions which progress from haunting dreamtime splendor to infectious groove driven riots of rhythm.

Their next gig is in Auckland at the Dogs Bollocks on Wednesday 14th of July with Fats White, should be interesting.
