The Pye Isotronic ad Posted: Sun Jul 26, 2009 10:55 pm Does anyone remember the Pye Isotronic ad from the 70's with a female vocalist singing in what looks like a recording studio? Great song and voice. Can someone enlighten???? |

RE: The Pye Isotronic ad Posted: Mon Jul 27, 2009 9:24 pm Yeah...I was born a little before that and the ad was on I think during the mid-70's. Great era for music - and great jingles. There was also this really cool Dunlop tyres ad. 'Dunlop - No.1 under the sun". |

RE: The Pye Isotronic ad Posted: Mon Jul 27, 2009 10:19 pm Heh, that reminded me of the Beaurepaires ad: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QcWm2pwqK6I "Not the bursty thing!!! Ohhhh nooooo! Heeeeeeelp!!!!" I never grew tired of that ad as a kid. I don't remember the Dunlop one though... |

RE: The Pye Isotronic ad Posted: Mon Jul 27, 2009 10:33 pm I think there may have been a couple of ads using a similar music theme...cool and probably aimed at a predominantly male market. Probably not on youtube either.... |

RE: The Pye Isotronic ad Posted: Wed Dec 30, 2009 5:08 pm I sure do, I loved that ad it was my fave at the time. She had the most awesome soulful voice. Her name was Josie Rika and what bought her back into my mind was the emergence of a new kiwi talent, Maisey Rika!! She has an amazing voice and style of songwriting. She is a young girl that went to St Josephs college in the Bay and is proving to be a talent in the extreme. You must try and get a hold of her cd or serach her on youtube, you won't be disappointed. Whether or not there is a connection between her and Josie is still a mystery to me but I would love to find out if there is. Josie was in a band in the 70's called Rainbow and also sung with various other nz artists. Why she never became a huge star is another mystery too as she certainly had the whole package to have made it big. |
