how long is too long?? Posted: Sat Jun 11, 2011 2:29 pm Hi Guys New here, Anyway recently I have been trying to get my freshly recorded song on some smaller NZ stations, (and some bigger ones) but they all keep saying it is too long. It is exactly 6min58sec long but its not like there is any long instrumentals during it (like 'light my fire') and now days we are slowly getting more of the 5min30s songs playing more often. So you think its too long??? oh and if you want you can listen to it to see for yourselves heres the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cqw5UUi3bjo cheers matt |

RE: how long is too long?? Posted: Mon Jun 13, 2011 4:02 pm I'm certainly not experienced in what the criteria is, but most songs played on radio tend to be between 3 minutes and 3 minutes 30 seconds in length. The only exceptions would be alternative radio stations or situations where the track is from a well known and respected artist - think "Stairway To Heaven". |

RE: how long is too long?? Posted: Sat Jun 18, 2011 3:03 pm yeh that is too long for an unknown song by an unknown artist so to speak. To get yourself on the airwaves I would go for something between 3 and 4 mins (4mins max) - what style is your music? |
