Muso moving to NZ
Posted: Fri May 11, 2012 2:13 pm
Hey all, I'll be moving from Australia to NZ at the end of this year to study/play in some bands (hopefully), but I'm not sure where to go. I'm taking a holiday across the South Island later this year as Dunedin was my main city of interest, but after finding out Katchafire come from Hamilton (and that Hamilton is near Raglan), the H-town has gone up on my lists a bit.
I'm really into reggae, funk, live hip hop and jam rock, but I also really like 'stoner metal' (holy shit, Beastwars) and grunge.
Which of these two cities has a better music scene, and which of these cities do you guys think is better for a 20 year old skater student? I've heard about the drinking culture in Dunedin but I personally prefer a few quiet beers and a spliff to getting trashed and burning couches, but that's just me. Cold weather doesn't really bother me.
