Hello to everyone out there. My name's Nik, I'm a music producer/engineer and am currently working as the intern in one of Auckland's top recording studios after my course at SAE which I completed with Distinction last year.

I'm lucky to get access to the studio I work at and all it's gear after hours and weekends for cheap as intern rates, and therefore am putting this out for any artists looking to get pro quality demos/EPs/albums at a comparatively cheap as chips cost (let's face it, we're all broke or close to it).

I produce, record, mix, and master - basically everything from taking an idea and converting it into a release quality song/CD. I'm also looking to build a rep and establish myself so it's a win/win for all.

A little bit about the studio:

The studio has been running for over 10 years now and is run by a legendary producer/engineer who has worked at York St Studios in the past, and has worked with many of NZ's top artists like Midnight Youth, Blacklist/Blindspott, the D4, Dukes, Crowded House, Bic Runga, Jordan Luck, Head Like A Hole, and more recently, Jury & the Saints, 5 Mile Town, Ekko Park etc.

Most of these bands have recorded at this studio and have their albums produced here - so in the NZ music industry, my boss is as close to a household name as you can get without being an artist yourself. I'm incredibly lucky to have met a few of the above artists myself and learnt from watching my boss work.

Obviously the studio has world class gear to attract such artists:

- microphones including vintage Neumann & Sony, AKGs, Audio Technicas, the usual Shures, Royer etc.
- Focusrite & vintage Telefunken tube preamps (ex-Abbey road)
- a host of outboard rack gear & hundreds of premium software plugins running Pro Tools HD
- vintage acoustic & electric guitars by Fender, Gibson, Guild, Gretsch
- Vox & Fender guitar amps
- a whole heap of classic and modern guitar pedals & effects. The place can make just about any guitar tone imaginable.
- great sounding DW drum kit available for hire if needed.

Everything except the drum kit comes included in the studio's rate, which also includes labour costs.

I'm passionate about any kind of music and can assure you that I'm not a clueless noob at production and engineering, I can send some of my work to anyone interested in working with me. And I'm not going to charge an arm and a leg as the gear and reputation of the studio suggests - you'll be surprised at how cheap you can get all this for, no BS.

GROUND RULES:

- I can only work after hours - from 7pm till late (no time limits for rock n roll!) and all weekends.
- Charges will depend on the kind of project, how long it will take, what is required by me etc. I work by a standard hourly rate which includes the studio, gear & labour. Negotiable based on budget/quality required of final product. No GST. I'm open to considering a fixed charge for projects where appropriate, under my discretion.
- I will request all applicable credits on any material I work on, and credit for the studio.

P.S. I do live sound as well - have done gigs at bars, theatres, outdoors, halls, you name it. So basically I can do most things audio.
