what the hell is nu metal. ive probably heard it before and just didn't know it had a genre. there are definitly way too many for me to catch up with. so could some one give me a definition and some examples of bands. cheers

Stupid shit like Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, etc... The really simple stuff, no solos, not much melody, really easy to play, hense "posers" as in not musicians, just shit.

yeah, must be all that $40,000 a month psychiatrist and random stuff james is goin thru. I think he needs to take a longer break and rebuild what he used to be capable of. He was such an amazing, creative force back then. I want that old metallica back.

Any who....nu metal!! Aint that like a different type of metal .....like rock and metal mixed together thats what im guessin!!

Besides Linkin Park aint new their songs are becomin more MATURE!!!! Not that they were IMMATURE!! But its getter upgraded and betta than before!!

So nu/NEW!! Metal is probably something thats been added to some rock songs some thong like that!!

i think linkin park are a pretty good band.(even though i think its an insult to metallica to stick them in the same catagory).i actually enjoyed their old albumn better.the hybrid theory one was the best in my opinion.yeah i saw their song with jay-z and it really did suck.they lost points for that but hmm whatever butters their muffin!

nu metal is metal that today's society listen to. Radio friendly, mainstream metal. rather disgusting because of their lack of guitar solos and respect for themselves (perfect example includes linkin park teaming up with jay z)

they have to fit it into 3 - 4 minutes of song for the radios, so that explains ur lack of solos, but on the linkin park-jay z subject... maybe they were kidnapped and forced into it... maybe jay z made them watch Gigli until they gave in (which by the way is the funniest movie, the plot has no point and none of it makes sense...)

The lack of solos is explained by the lack of talant and lack of guitar playing ability, not time constraints. Just like the shit nu-metal riffs.

Fuck, who cares if there's no guitar solo's. who care's if it's radio friendly and between 3-4 minutes. I mean, at the end of the day, it's music. You don't have to listen to it if you don't want to. I reckon Linkin Park are a really good band. I don't see the comparison between them and metallica's new stuff either, they're pretty different.

And about the Jay-Z thing, what's so bad about Jay-Z? Linkin park are probably just mates with the dude, so they decided to do a mix together. I thought the song turned out great, quite creative and interesting.
